About NFF
First about the name of the society: In domestic language “Norsk Forening for Fjellsprengningsteknikk“. Literally translated the name in English would be “Norwegian Society for Rock Blasting Technique”. However, we call ourselves the “Norwegian Tunnelling Society” in English.
The society covers in fact heavy construction with focus on national and international surface and underground engineering, from A to Z. For those closer connected to the society, the acronym NFF is the commonly used name.
The society was founded in 1963, and since then grown into a society with approximately 100 member organizations and 1000 personal members representing the whole value chain.
Although NFF is an active member in both the International Tunnelling Association (ITA) and the European Federation of Explosives Engineers (EFEE), most of our activity is based in Norway and in Norwegian.
Tunnel.no is our English website, you will find more extensive material on nff.no, however it will be in Norwegian.
